If we talk about nature tourism in Agam regency the first place in our mind would be Lawang Park, Lake Maninjau, Tarusan Kamang or maybe Ngarai Sianok , but there is a place that people might not know that much about this place, this place called Ngalau Agam Tabik, it is located in Simarasok, Baso , Agam regency. It takes 30-45 minutes from Bukittinggi, local people said that this place used to be tourism destination, but it is closed now because local people used this place to collect sand as their livelihood, and then some of local people said that if this open as tourism destination maybe there are foreign tourist might to do sun bathing in here, and it would not match with norms around that place, and also disturb them to do their job because there are a lot of people.

The unique things about Ngalau Agam Tabik is once a year local people go inside the cave to collect lobster. To go to inside the cave local people used small boat, and they brought a bagful of rice so they can stay in the cave for about one week, after collect the lobster local people have their own market to sell it with a high price, because their consumer said that lobster from this cave sweeter and delicate that other lobster. Local people said that if they collect a lot of lobster it would support their family financial for about more than a month.

For me it is such an amazing experience to be able to visit this beautiful view, as tourism ambassador of Agam regency to give me such a wonderful opportunity to visit a place that has been closed to public it’s been an amazing and unforgettable experience to meet local people and get to know closer about this place and their amazing job, for me it was priceless, I hope that this place gets more exposure from the government because this place has a potential with the nature and support the local lobster breeder to get more high quality lobster.
